Electrical - Changing a light switch
Required Tools: Screwdriver, Light Switch
- Warning : When working with electrics, always ensure that the circuit you are working on is turned off at the fusebox. Electricity is dangerous, and you should only work with your houses wiring if you know what precautions to take.
- Isolate the switch from the mains power supply. Unscrew the switch cover and pull away from the wall.
- Unscrew the screws attaching the wires to the terminals. Remove them and reconnect them in the new switch in exactly the same position. If there are more wires to connect make sure they are reconnected in the new switch in exactly the same position.
- Secure all the wires and tuck away any loose wire into the new switch box.
- Screw the new switch back on to the wall and reconnect the electricity supply. Check the light works correctly.
