Plumbing - Cistern Condensation

More Articles
The condensation is caused by your cistern always being colder than the surrounding air, and the air in the bathroom always being moist and warm. You could consider doing the following;
  • Checking that the fill valve is working properly on your toilet - if your ballcock is set improperly you could have continual supply of cold water flowing into the cistern meaning it never warms up
  • Installing an extractor fan with a humidistat as ventilation - one with a timer may be turning off while the room is still damp
  • Add a mixer valve to your toilet - mixing a small amount of hot water as the toilet fills so it never fills with freezing cold water.
  • Insulate the inside of your cistern (you can use any thin plastic material such as offcuts of vinyl flooring), this will give the outside of the cistern a better chance of heating up to room temperature.
