Decorating - Hanging a curtain track

More Articles

Required Tools: Screwdriver, Screws, Pencil, Tape Measure

  • Make a mark at least 2 inches above the top of the window recess. Make a mark every 8 inches along the wall in this way to make a line parallel to the top of the window. If your first point is closer to the ceiling, take all measurements from the ceiling to ensure the curtain does not look slanted if the ceiling and window do not run parallel to each other.
  • Join the pencil marks in a straight line and add an extra 2 inches either side of the window recess. Make marks along the line for your brackets. Put one at either end of the line and space the others 12 inches apart from one another or as wide as the manufacturer advises.
  • At each mark, drill into the wall with a suitable drill and insert a plug. Screw a bracket into each plug.
  • Attach the track to the brackets according to the manufacturers instructions.
