Decorating - Hanging Wallpaper - Preparing Walls
Required Tools: Paperhanging Brush, Wallpaper Stripper
- Before removing old paper decorate the ceiling. Any splashes of paint or other materials can then be removed with the old paper. If steam stripping the old paper, hang the wallpaper before decorating the ceiling.
- Fill any cracks and indentations in the walls.
- Clear as much of the room as possible and remove shelves and light fittings. Cover the floor and any remaining furniture with dust sheets
- Bare walls should be primed with Glue Size which will stop the wall absorbing your paste making it harder for the paper to stick. Size can be bought or you can use a dilute form of the paste for hanging the wallpaper. Use a paste brush to evenly cover your walls. If the size gets onto unprotected surfaces, quickly remove with a damp cloth.
