Repairs - Fixing a small hole in the ceiling

More Articles

Required Tools: Sandpaper, Screws, Plasterers trowel, Filler

  • Find a suitably sized block of wood that will fit into the hole and provide a solid surface to apply filler to.
  • Put a screw into the wood. You can use this screw as a hande to apply gentle weight to the block and prevent it from moving while you apply the filler.
  • Apply filler – most DIY stores now stock lightweight filler that is less likely to sag.
  • Once dry, remove the screw, and apply more filler to the small hole that remains.
  • Depending on the type of filler you used, you may have to apply a skim of plaster, however most modern fillers can be sanded to achieve an acceptable finish.
  • Sand flat and decorate to match the rest of the ceiling.
