Decorating - Hanging a curtain rail

More Articles

Required Tools: Screws, Hammer Drill, Curtain Rail, Pencil

  • Make a mark at least 2 inches above the top of the window recess. Make a mark every 8 inches along the wall in this way to make a line parallel to the top of the window. If your first point is closer to the ceiling, take all measurements from the ceiling to ensure the curtain does not look slanted if the ceiling and window do not run parallel to each other.
  • Join the pencil marks in a straight line and add an extra 2 inches either side of the window recess. Measure how far above the centre the screw hole is on your bracket. Use this measurement to put drill marks above your line 4 inches in from each end of your line.
  • Drill holes at these two marks and insert your plugs. Put in your screw so that the head of each screw stick out from the plug slightly. Fit the brackets into place over the screw head. The bracket will push over the screw and drop slightly, moving it securely into place.
  • Position your pole into the brackets being sure there are even measurements of the pole wither side of the window. Make sure one slide ring is on the outside of the bracket at both ends. Secure the pole into place by inserting a screw into the base of each bracket securing pole and bracket together.
