Outdoor - Laying new turf
Required Tools: Digging Spade, Ground Rake, Hose
- Remove the original turf with a spade or turf cutter.
- Rake the under soil until it is level and firm. Use you foot to test the lawn to see if it is too soft and the area will need levelling out. Do not over press the lawn.
- Unroll turf around the edges of the garden to begin, using large widths of turf. Next lay turf along the longest length of the garden and continue in strips up and down the garden until complete. Make sure all turf is in full contact with the underlying soil.
- Cut any overlapping areas or strips that overrun the edge of the garden. Make sure all turf is butted together to ensure there are no gaps but make sure the turf isn’t being stretched.
- Water within half an hour of laying the new turf and water every day until the new turf has taken root. In hotter climates water more frequently.
