Misc - Fitting a new handrail

Required Tools: Screws, Hammer Drill, Pencil, Tape Measure, Handrail

  • Measure the desired height the same at the top and bottom of the staircase. Mark these positions on the wall with pencil. Attach brackets to the handrail at equal intervals.
  • Drill holes for the top bracket and insert wall plugs. Screw in one screw attaching the handrail at the top of the stair. Line up the rail to the lower mark on the wall. Mark the position of every bracket along the length of the rail.
  • Drill and fit wall plugs at the marked positions. Screw in the remaining screws firmly to the wall and check it is attached securely to the wall.
