Decorating - Replacing a Cracked or Damaged Tile
Required Tools: Drill, Tiling Kit, Claw Hammer, Stripping Knife, Adhesive Trowel, Tile Adhesive
- Drill a hole in the centre of the tile to be removed.
- Use a hammer and chisel to work pieces of the tile away from the wall, starting at the hole you made in the tile. You can use the chisel to lever tile off the wall. Wear protective glasses when doing this.
- When the old tile is removed, chisel away any old adhesive remaining until the wall is exposed. Take care not to damage the wall behind. A heated chisel or paint scraper may be used to melt and remove stubborn adhesive.
- Apply new adhesive to the new tile with a notched spreader and push onto the wall. Make sure the new tile is level with the rest of the wall. Wipe away any excess adhesive and leave to dry as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
- When dry, grout the new tile then clean and buff it until it matches the other tiles.
